Melissa Morán began her training as an actress in Spain, taking acting courses at Cristina Rota Acting School and ESAD Murcia among others. After moving to London and taking the course Foundation year in Acting at Regent’s University London, she was awarded the Regent’s Scholarship to study the BA (Hons) in Acting & World Theatre, where she also received training in directing and film editing, graduating in 2020. The university itself entrusted her with the translation of Federico García Lorca’s play Yerma. Furthermore, she developed the position of assistant director with the film and theatre director Gaël Le Cornec for the production of Yerma, and also with the actor and director Kwong Loke for the theatre production of The Cherry Orchard.
Melissa’s first piece as a director is the self-produced short film The Darkness that You Fear, which received its first award in the special category “Llámalo Cáncer” at Notodo Film Festival 2021. This category was supported and sponsored by the AECC (Spanish Association Against Cancer) and Atresmedia Cine.
